Sarvam Brahmamayam

One of my favourite Sadashiva Brahmendra pieces

Nicely sung - your pronunciation and the rendition of Darbari Kanada are nice. I'd like to hear your take on the song's meaning.

It is Madhuvanti and quite different from Darbari Kanada.

Lovely.

I can't make out between Dharmavadi and madhuvanti while listening in.

But my current favourite on Madhuvanti ragam is 'Kanda naal mudalai kaadal perugudadi' by Vaali sung by Sudha Raghunathan.

Didn't imagine it would be Madhuvanti. Maybe as maami indicated, I should listen to "kanda nAL mudalAi" once again. :)

Thanks. Dharmavati is a sampurna ragam and has a shuddha madhyamam. I will try and hear the song you have mentioned.

Hey, doesn't Dharmavati have a Pratimadhyamam?

Yes yes. Dharmavati with shuddha madhyamam is Gouri Manohari. My reference point of a song by U Shrinivas threw me off a bit.

Lovely singing! I remember a very touching version of this sung by the Hyderabad Brothers when they were in their prime.

Do you do concerts? When's the next one?

Oh ya. I learnt this one from a Malladi Brothers album. Concerts..well..uh. I do have one in November, but no one's getting invited because I have no practice. Some better ones maybe I will share :)

Very nice. I liked the involvement in the singing and the "ganam" in the voice. Enjoyed it a lot but for some slight pitching lapses.
By the way, you seem to have introduced the dhaivatham in the aarohanam in certain places...
